Getaway Entertainment's upcoming conspiracy thriller "Tilt" has cast Briana Middleton and Kyle Allen in leading roles. The film, which begins shooting in early April, follows a struggling freelance reporter and her cinephile cam op as they investigate a citywide conspiracy in Los Angeles.

In other film news, A Cup of Happy Productions has optioned the rights to B.K. Borison's romance novel "First Time Caller". The book tells the story of a hopeless romantic who meets a jaded radio host in a "Sleepless in Seattle"-inspired love story. Daryl Steiger's production company is known for its focus on romance, making this project a natural fit.

Meanwhile, Prime Video's live-action "God of War" series has cast Ed Skrein as Baldur, the youngest son of Odin and a major villain in the show. Skrein will star alongside Ryan Hurst, who plays the protagonist Kratos, and Callum Vinson, who plays Atreus. The series is currently in pre-production in Vancouver.

Skrein's character, Baldur, is described as charismatic, unpredictable, and armed with a razor-sharp tongue. He is driven by an insatiable anger and bloodlust, fueled by a curse that denies him the ability to feel pleasure and physical sensation.

In other news, Mara Brock Akil, showrunner and creator of shows like "Girlfriends" and "Forever", is set to publish her debut novel "The Revelation of Dionne Daphne" this summer. The book follows the titular heroine as she navigates emotions, secrets, and a profound personal awakening as a thirty-something woman in 1990s New York City.

Akil's novel is being published by Crown Publishing imprint Storehouse Voices, and is set to hit shelves on June 30, 2026.
